Historic Preservation Graduate Student earns Society for Baseball Research Scholarship

Brandon Grilc, Historic Preservation graduate student, has earned a Yoseloff Scholarship offered by The Society of American Baseball Research.  The scholarship is an all inclusive award given to four students to attend the annual SABR 44 conference in Houston, Texas. The conference is five days long, includes multiple lectures on baseball related research, a tour of the historic Houston Astrodome, and group outings including a city tour of Houston and a Houston Astros v. Toronto Blue Jays game.

Heath chosen for Excellence Award for Directors of Graduate Studies

Professor Kingston Heath, director of the Historic Preservation Program, has been awarded the 2014 Excellence Award for Directors of Graduate Studies by the UO Graduate School. The honor will be formally presented during the Director of Graduate Studies spring meeting at approximately 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, in the Knight Library Browsing Room. “I am humbled by the recognition and truly appreciative,” Heath said. “Mentoring students along their journey as professionals is the most fulfilling aspect of my role as a program director.”

HP Minor Chris Laswell '13 Awarded Cultural Resources Technician Internship in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii

Chris Laswell ‘13, Environmental Studies Major with a Minor in Historic Preservation, has secured a year-long internship as a Cultural Resources Technician in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. This position is located within the Environmental Planning Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Pacific (NAVFAC Pacific) and Chris will be providing technical support for archeological and historical resources surveys and inventories of significant properties in Guam. Upon completing this internship, Chris is hoping to apply to graduate school to receive his Masters in Architecture.
